Can whisky change once bottled?
Maturation only takes place in oak casks.
Providing your bottle is properly sealed, your whisky will never change.
A 10-year-old Single Malt bottled 40 years ago is not the same as a 50-year-old bottled today.
Hi George,
The taste will start changing as soon as you open your bottle but the change will be very slow. It can take decades before you start noticing a difference.
This is an issue which I personally never worry about.

Hello my dear friends. I would like to ask you the following . I have just opened at home a bottle of Glenfiddich 18 and Glenfiddich 21 . Since I don’t drink often whisky for how long the taste of the opened whisky could remain unaltered.
Dear Sirs,
I was recently given a bottle of Glenfiddich that had previously been stored for years in a private cellar. I am trying to determine the age of the bottle from the labeling. It is not labeled like any of your current products. Do you have a historical collection of your bottles with online pictures? Thank you for your time.
Zack
Hi Steve,
I’m not sure I’m following you. Would you mind elaborating?
Many thanks,
Ludo

Should this still not be classed as a 10 year old malt, as the 50 year old malt has been in the cask for 50 years?
Cheers
Steve
Thank you for your question Stephane.
I have added your question and my answer to our FAQ page (http://www.blog.glenfiddich.com/your-questions.html)

Can you give me some information on your label? You are base in the Speyside but you didn’t put on label, Why? One of my staff told me I should put on the menu Glenfiddich,”Speyside”, but I do not see on the label, and it is why I did not put on the menu. Can you confirm me
